How Pause Works

The stocks you add to your Portfolio Builder determine exactly what Pause monitors. Every report covers only the companies in your portfolio — nothing more and nothing less.

Free accounts track up to 3 stocks across 1 portfolio. Paid accounts track up to 25 stocks across 2 portfolios.

Pause generates two types of reports:

If markets are still open when you generate a Daily Pause, the report displays a notice explaining that prices reflect current trading activity and may differ from the official closing price.

Pause combines information from multiple independent financial data providers and public regulatory sources on every report run.

After data is collected, Pause's AI analysis engine reviews each company independently and produces a structured summary of the information gathered. Each stock is analyzed separately — nothing is shared or blended between companies.

The AI is instructed to:

• ✓ Report only information explicitly supported by the underlying data
• ✓ Cite specific financial figures whenever available
• ✓ Name the firms responsible for analyst upgrades, downgrades, or price target changes
• ✓ Present factual summaries without opinions, predictions, or recommendations

Its purpose is straightforward: transform large volumes of financial information into concise, readable reports while preserving the underlying facts.

This matters, so we're transparent about it. Pause's AI is specifically instructed not to:

• ✕ Use language implying future performance ("poised for growth," "likely to rise," "expected to outperform")
• ✕ State dates that are not explicitly confirmed by the underlying data
• ✕ Mention analyst actions without identifying the specific firm and exact figures
• ✕ Speculate about what news or SEC filings might mean for future stock performance
• ✕ Fill reports with generic commentary when no material developments exist
• ✕ Invent, infer, or embellish information that does not appear in the source data

If the data doesn't say it, neither does Pause.

To ensure consistency, Pause caches completed analyses. When multiple users own the same stock, everyone receives the same factual summary generated from the same underlying data. This helps ensure reports remain consistent and reproducible across users.

Every completed report also becomes part of your historical report library, allowing you to review how your companies evolved over time through news, filings, analyst activity, and financial updates.

Daily Pause reports generated while markets are open are not cached because market prices continue changing throughout the trading session. Only post-market reports are stored and shared.

Pause is not a fully automated black box. Every Weekly Pause generation is monitored to help ensure successful data collection, report generation, and output quality.

The prompts, validation rules, and report generation pipeline are continuously reviewed and refined as new market events and edge cases are identified. The objective is simple: factual summaries that remain accurate, consistent, and free from speculation.
